  Band Name: Nural
Album Name: The Weight Of The World
Release Date: 2005-08-09
Label: Hopeless Records
Producer: Michael Rosen

A quite accessible album in all aspects, 'The Weight Of The World' finds Nural as being the type of youthful contender that will resonate with fans of Nickelback, Chevelle and the like. Nural tend to have a bit of a post-hardcore edge in their music and the urgency of tracks like 'The Curse' and 'Chasing You' show that the band not only can write edgy, competent rock, but they can deliver it with a bit of uneasy danger.

Singer Kyle Castellani has an excellent voice that is tuneful and smooth, but on tracks like 'Not Guilty', he shows that he can get aggressive if he really needs to. By amping up the aggression only when it's required, Kyle gives the band's music just the right balance of power and soulfulness. But don't be mislead, there's not a lot of screaming here and many of the tracks are middle-of-the-road, modern rock oriented fare that could be considered as being pretty safe. There is however, a great deal here to explore if you're into melodic bands and the performance of Castellani is superb throughout the record.

Strong hooks and solid songwriting make all the difference on 'The Weight Of The World' and songs like 'I Told You So', and the aforementioned 'Chasing You' easily have hit potential. Meanwhile, 'Forgive Me' is a heartfelt ballad featuring a performance by Castellani that could very well be one of the best vocal performances of the year. Obviously, Nural are a band with a whole lot of talent, especially in the songwriting department. Those that love highly tuneful songs delivered with passion and honest emotion won't want to miss this.
