Since the Deftones devoted are likely to be inclined to say that a B-side from the band is as good as most other band's A-sides, it won't take a review to convince them to go out and purchase this fine package, collecting, well, 'B-Sides And Rarities.' As if that's not enough, this well-put-together presentation features all of the bands music videos, which makes this collection totally rad. Highlights pertaining to audio include a moody acoustic version of the smash hit 'Change (In The House Of Flies)' that brings out the details in the tune in such an awesome fashion, you'll be clicking repeat like you're playing a shooter video game. Moreno's vocals are impassioned as always, his stony, trance-like vocals floating through the strumming like a creeping fog.

A jam session with FAR members results in 'Savory', the alluring leadoff track, while Skynyrd's 'Simple Man' is an amazingly accurate interpretation that would not necessarily expect. Another cover track finds the band taking on Helmet's 'Sinatra', which is the thunderous yang to the yin of 'Simple Man.' The thematics here are wildly diverse. An appearance by B. Real of CYPRESS HILL on 'Black Moon' throws a sleepy-eyed nod to the hip-hopsters in the crew while DURAN DURAN's 'The Chauffeur', which was recorded during the 'Around The Fur' sessions is a frighteningly close representation of what Deftones would sound like were they a full-on New Wave band.

On the visual side of things, hardcore fans will no doubt revel in the music video content here. '7 Words'? 'Bored'? 'Be Quiet And Drive Far Away'? Come on, this is the shit right here. A spanking new clip for 'Engine Number 9' is the highlight but you'll find all of the band's best known tracks in video form here, a measure of added value that makes this collection nothing less than essential listening as well as required viewing.
