  Band Name: Fony
Album Name: Live At The Harlequin
Release Date: 2005-02-02
Label: Corpro Records
Producer:

This fantastic live document finds Fony performing their brand of alternative metal in a down-to-earth-fashion that duly portrays the emotion inherent in the group's wandering, potently passionate songs. Recorded in November of 2004 at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill, England, this record has a wide-open sound that is quite indicative of what this performance actually sounded like from the perspective of the audience. More than anything, the realness of this recording is what ultimately gives it credibility, as the band plows through superb renditions of 'January Zen', 'Emeritus' and 'I Matador.' Olly, the band's vocalist sings, screams and croons with a strong measure of assertiveness while the band wails away intently on 'A Satire For The World.' The fact that this recording was conducted on the band's final stop on their 2004 European tour lends further weight to the group's ability as they drive through their songs without missing a single beat along the way. To add even further value to the entire affair, a DVD is included featuring videos, a live performance of 'Nefer', culled from the group's 'Circles' album and filmed during the Redhill performance as well as a six song Spanish television broadcast which features a decidedly intense performance of the group's 'January Zen.' Solid production values, mesmerizing performances and a plethora of great music make this release a must have for those who enjoy intense music delivered with a measure of melodic aptitude. 'Live At The Harlequin' shows that Fony are one of the preeminent acts that brandish this type of style of music across the pond. A compelling recording on the whole, this is all of the evidence that you need to know Fony are the real deal.
